These photos of animals and plants in the Galápagos Islands were taken by Prof. Ritvo in 2001.

Two gray iguanas, covered in sand, walk on a large smooth rock at night. In the left foreground, a rocky hill with sparse patches of shrubs slopes to meet the water. In the background, other hills and outcrops are visible. Brown-black irregular rocks cover the ground; on the horizon, green vegetation is visible. A dozen seals, ranging from light brown to gray, lie on a white sandy beach. 6 large tortoises sit among green leaves and rocks behind a wall. At the top of a gray-brown bush, light green leaves and yellow flowers grow. Large birds with iridescent black feathers sit in a tree; some have white bellies showing, and one has a red throat-pouch.
