Groups of students designed sets for Wes Savick's play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots). In Session #18, they constructed models of major set elements and placed them on a replica stage. All work is used with permission of the students.

 

Stage right, a low bench sits under a large window with crossbars. Downstage left, a large office chair sits behind a curved desk, with a smaller chair to the left. A small desk and chair sits stage right, while center stage is dominated by an office space with shelves, a large desk and chair, and a door leading offstage left. On the far left, two chairs and an endtable form a conversational grouping. This room has large arch-topped picture windows on the right and left, with a fireplace dominating the wall in between, and a chair and table center stage. The furniture in this set includes two couches, an endtable, a lamp, and a low-backed armchair. The backdrop has three panels with large windows in them, which can be covered by pleated blinds. After a scene change, the couches have moved to stage left and center, the armchair and lamp are stage right, bookshelves and windows appear on the backdrop, and an enclosing frame extends out onto the apron. A covered arch entryway dominates stage right, while a long desk sits stage left, in front of a large metal panel. Two window panels feature in the background. A low bench and endtable sit stage right, opposing a desk, small bench and endtable stage left. A door opens upstage right, next to a low wide riser.
